"Illinois faces many tough problems, but it is not too late. Together, we can still save this great state."
Below I have listed a few of the issues facing Illinois. By no means are these the only problems facing our State. If the issue(s) that are most important to you are not listed, please take a moment to contact me and let me know what your top concerns are.
Chicago politicians have stolen from the State pension systems for years. They have gone to Springfield and used the pension savings of our State workers like their own personal piggy bank. If we do nothing the pension systems could be insolvent within 10 years. We must bring all parties to the table and come up with a solution that works for Illinois, it's employees, and most importantly, the taxpayers.
Over the past 10 years Medicaid has grown 300% this clearly is unsustainable. We must purge the Medicaid rolls of all ineligible recipients. It is estimated that the State of Illinois could save Billions merely by removing ineligible recipients from Medicaid. It is unconscionable to ask Illinois taxpayers to foot the bill for non-citizen medical expenses.
Ending Welfare Abuses
We require photo ID for almost all transactions in our society, why would we not incorporate a photo ID into our welfare system in order to avoid abuses? As a police officer, I see State assistance cards sold on the street for half value or less so that the seller can then turn around and use the money for alcohol or narcotics. In a terrible economy, like the one we are in, we must ensure that State assistance is going to the truly needy, not those who would abuse the system.
Second Amendment Rights
Illinois is the very last state in the country to adopt some form of conceal carry. The Supreme Court of the United States has upheld that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right, yet the Chicago politicians continue to deny Illnoisans their constitutional rights. Crime has plummeted all across the country as a result of comprehensive conceal carry laws. Chicago has one of the strictest anti-gun laws in the United States, yet the city is plagued with gun violence. It is time for Springfield to realize that gun control doesn't work, we must allow our citizens to protect themselves and their families.
